For some men, how to choose a necktie can be quite puzzling. There are numerous necktie designs out in the market, so men have an even harder time choosing which tie is the perfect choice.

When choosing a tie, men should first consider the occasion or the event that he would be attending. Knowing this would be of great help, as the event would set the mood for the outfits. This way, men would know when would be a good time to play it safe and when is a good time to push the boundaries.

For casual gatherings with friends or family, men can wear neckties with crazy prints. There are ties that even have prints of cartoon characters; these are best worn during fun parties because ties can be conversation pieces. For dates, men should wear ties that are fun but not dorky. This is probably a good time to leave the cartoon-printed one at home, lest the date thinks that the man she is dating is immature. A tie in a bright color might just do the trick.

For business meetings and other formal occasions, men should stick to simple and unfussy ties. For such functions, it is best that men wear conservative tie designs so that they would be taken seriously.

Ties come in various prints that would suit different occasions. Striped and dotted ties can go from casual to formal. Men who are still unsure how to choose a necktie should stick to solid-colored ties. It is acceptable to wear a tie that’s in the same color as the shirt, as long as the tie is in a different texture; this prevents the look from falling flat.
